Be Vigilant

Caution: As the election nears, we are seeing an increased volume of attackers attempting to steal user credentials through deception while exploiting security weaknesses in applications and systems.

ASC Group is issuing this public service announcement encouraging everyone to review their systems and take action regarding the following:

  • Use strong passwords for systems and accounts, never reuse passwords.
  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA/MFA) on all accounts, including email accounts.
  • Make sure applications and systems are up to date with the latest patches and upgrades.
  • Update Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware. We recommend a paid subscription-based endpoint protection program.
  • Never use public Wi-Fi for business purposes. Always connect using a Virtual Private Connection (VPN).
  • Use a Firewall with Threat Prevention to protect access to your network from outside intruders.
  • Ensure encryption is part of your corporate policy.
  • Use the principle of least privilege (eg. restricting “need to know”) on systems, applications, and accounts.
  • Lock your computer when not in use. Cover your webcam when it’s not in use.
  • We strongly encourage our customers and all organizations to review their security measures and implement the suggestions above. We also suggest that you sign up for our cyber security tips for more information and to stay current on the latest security information.

Thank you for your time and attention to this important matter.
